Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCSS (FPG)
Founded in 1964, the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCSS (FPG) is an academic medical center operating in all areas of health and clinical assistance and one of the most important and internationally acclaimed care providers in Italy. It is the biggest hospital in Rome with more than 1500 beds, providing healthcare to approximately 95,000 inpatients and 250,000 outpatients per year. In the framework of the Catholic University School of Medicine, FPG trains doctors (more than 1000 Medical Doctors graduated in the last 5 years; approx. 400 visiting doctors, 850 residents and 270 Ph.D. degrees per year) and other healthcare professionals such as nurses, physioterapists, pharmacists, and midwives. It has two decontamination tents, a radiotherapy ward, CBRN equipment and a mass casualty plan that consider non-conventional threats. FPG has organized 2 CBRN full scale demonstrations in the framework of EU projects: EDEN in 2016, NO-FEAR in 2019; another is planned for February 2023. The focus of FPG in the medical field can help in raising the importance of first aid in non-conventional scenarios in the CBRN EU community, improving capabilities of the trainees.
