Preparing for EURO U21 Championship: Multiagency CBRN Exercise at MSK Žilina Stadium

International Security and Emergency Management Institute and MŠK Žilina organized CBRN multiagency exercise with scenario of simulated chemical attack within the stadium’s facilities, specifically in a restroom, where toxic industrial chemicals were released intentionally as part of a criminal act.

This exercise brought together multiple Slovakia´s Integrated Rescue System entities, including the ISEMI CBRN Response Team, SWAT and Public Order Police, Firefighters, Ambulance services, and the stadium’s security team (security manager and stewards), to practice a coordinated response to potential security threats.

MŠK Zilina security manager and stewards implemented Safe Stadium Project Procedures as 5S, 123+, REMOVE, REMOVE, REMOVE, THEN and ETHANE reports to response properly to this chemical attack. ISEMI CBRN Response team carried out detection of the chemical threat and decontamination, first aid was provided by ambulances and police was securing the place. Joint response from all emergency services showed common preparation to ensure the safety and security of the upcoming EURO Football Championship for under-21 players, set to take place at MSK Žilina Stadium, Slovakia, in 2025.
